In addition to the Service Menu here on our site, we have updated ten of the most Frequently Asked Questions fielded by our service department.
1. How long does it take to tune up and /or repair my bike?
We strive to provide the highest quality of service while keeping our turn-around times as short as possible. We have in stock the parts necessary to complete at least 90% of service work orders. One to three business days is a typical turn-around time depending on the season of the year and whether or not we need to order additional parts. Please note that we do not guarantee turn-around time for suspension rebuilds sent to Dirt Labs.
2. How do I know that my bike needs a tune up service?
We recommend a complete bike tune up service on an annual basis. Additionally, following the recommended service intervals for specific suspension components will dramatically increase the lifespan of your bike. Riding level difficulty (beginner vs intermediate or advanced terrain) as well as trail conditions (muddy vs. dry and dusty) impact service intervals for front and rear shocks, and dropper seatposts. To learn more, visit ridefox.com , sram.com (RockShox), or mrpbike.com. To inquire about other specific components, please call our service department to speak with an expert technician.
3. Do you test ride my bike after a repair service?
Yes. After receiving a tune-up or necessary repairs, your bike is test ridden by two different technicians. The employee who repairs the bike will test ride the bike, and then a second technician will ride the bike, review the work order, and the confirm the bike’s performance.
4. Do you have warranty for your repair service?
Sports Garage will honor all manufacturer’s warranties on frames, forks, and components, which can vary from 90 days to the lifetime of the original purchaser, against manufacturer’s defects. These warranties do not apply to normal wear and tear, abuse, or accidents. On any warranty claim made in the first 120 days of ownership, Sports Garage will waive all labor charges that are incurred.
5. Do I need an appointment?
Yes, we recommend that you make an appointment for service. Having an appointment will make your overall service experience more efficient. Is your bike making a yet-undiagnosed klunk, ping, or creak? We will schedule enough time for diagnoses when you make your appointment.
6. What about getting a tire/flat fixed?
Typically we can fix a flat or replace a tire on the spot for you. The process usually only takes 5-15 minutes depending on the tire, however in the midst of a busy day during the season, we may ask if you would like to run a quick errand. Although you’re always welcome to stay and hang out at the shop with us!
7. How do I return or exchange my bike?
If for any reason you are not satisfied with your Sports Garage investment, you may return the bicycle for a refund or credit within seven days of purchase. We reserve the right to make a full or partial refund based on the condition of the bike, and we do not issue refunds for equipment damaged in use under normal conditions or due to improper use. A restocking fee will apply. Pro build bikes are not returnable or exchangeable. We will issue the refund in the same manner the bicycle was purchased. (For example, if you paid with a check, we will issue you a refund check within seven days.) Some manufacturer’s offer crash replacement programs, and we review eligibility on a case-by-case basis.
8. Do you ship internationally?
Yes, we partner with Bike Flights to ship internationally. Prices vary widely depending the size of the box or case in which you are shipping your bike. When you search for international shipping rates, you may be surprised by how much it costs. Rates for any given box or case are significantly more for international shipping than for shipping within the U.S. The box or case you typically use to ship within the U.S. may cost much more to ship internationally. To learn more details about international shipping, visit BikeFlights.com.
9. How long will it take for my order to arrive?
Part of the fun of getting a high end mountain bike is getting exactly what you want. With numerous size, color, and build options available with each manufacturer’s models, we regularly special order for our clients. In most cases, you can expect your bike to be ready for delivery within 4-7 business days after the order is placed.
10. Do I need different tools and gear for gravel cycling?
While there may be many perceived similarities between road cycling and gravel grinding, there are unique considerations for gravel cyclists. First and foremost, your bike should be capable of enduring the rigors of off-road conditions. Some tools to consider carrying when riding gravel are: a pump, spare spokes, zip ties, chain lube, and some type of brush or stick to clean mud off your bicycle. Remember that some gravel roads carry us far beyond the reaches of normal “available services”. In such cases, we would recommend carrying a spare derailleur hanger if your bicycle uses a derailleur hanger on your rear derailleur. With respect to gear, as with all other cycling endeavors make sure you dress properly for the weather and carry adequate water and nutrition. You can refer to our online Gear Guides for more specific short, medium, and overnight gravel adventure packing lists.
