What do you do at Sports Garage?

Buying, selling, wheelbuilding, wrenching…. Basically like Master Control from Tron.

What is your favorite bike that you’ve ever had?

My first one - 16” Diamond Back Viper.  It was all chrome and did awesome skids.

What's your background in cycling?

No training wheels.  I jumped on and was riding in an afternoon.  I thought mountain bikes where the coolest thing ever when they came out pre V-brake and suspension forks. 

What’s the best thing about SG?

The personal attention we can give to our customers.  AND, the awesome bikes and parts that we get to play with everyday.

How did you start working at SG?

I moved to Boulder, CO for biking 10 years ago.  I went into a lot of shops checking out where I would like to work and I knew SG fit as soon as I walked in the door.

Why do you ride?

Challenge, freedom, gearheaded-ness, speed.

Zack Macik has been perfecting his craft as a master of all things mechanical since he was just a kid.  At SG, if he’s not at his desk or workbench, you can find him in the Snap On Tools truck, where he now buys tools in sets of two.  One for him, and one for his new son, Axel.  (Or, if he’s not shopping for tools, he’s probably perusing the menu of one of his favorite local eateries.  Calling Zack a food buff would be an understatement.  The man can, and does, eat.)
