When we first laid our eyes on the Mach 5.7 Carbon from Pivot last September in Las Vegas, NV at Interbike, we knew that it would be one of our favorite bikes for 2012. Turns out, we were right.
Since then, we’ve visited Pivot Cycles headquarters in Pheonix, AZ and had a chance to talk with Chris Cocalis, Pivot’s President, about what makes the Mach 5.7 Carbon such an incredible bike. Having already developed and perfected the alloy Mach 5.7 (born originally as the previous generation Mach 5,) Pivot had a solid platform to start with. And although fans had been asking for a carbon version for the last couple of years, Cocalis simply wasn’t ready to release a carbon frame until it was absolutely phenomenal - And the new Carbon Mach 5.7 is as close to heavenly as possible.
Pivot's carbon manufacturing process results in a frame design that’s stiffer and more durable than imaginable and it rides even better than it looks. With 5.7” its ready to tackle what ever the trail throws your way and with the large weighing only 27lbs, the DW Link equipped trail bike is light and efficient enough to pedal on the most epic of rides.
